Have you ever looked at someone and just knew,
knew that they were placed in your life for a reason?

but your absolute everything.
That’s how I felt the first time I saw him.
That one day when a few little words changed our entire
lives forever…
Don’t be
Afraid, he said.
Life can change so quickly.
One moment you can be smiling and feeling as if you’re
walking on clouds and the next, everything you love, everything you treasure
crumbles at your feet.
I told him to fight, I told him I needed him.
We needed him.
But there are just some fights that can’t be won…
He was my angel then, and he’s still my angel now.
In a way, I believe he’s still looking out for us, giving us
a future.
Sometimes it’s as if I can still feel his presence,
guiding us and keeping us safe.
So, I won’t be Afraid.
I’ll live. I’ll fight.
It’s what he would have wanted.
I’ll do it for him…

I buried my body beneath the covers and curled around his warmth. With my head rested just where he’d wanted it, I closed my eyes tight and willed the tears away. Doing my best to hide the emptiness consuming me, I concentrated on breathing evenly.
“Always loved you right like this,” he confessed. “Your body so close to mine it feels like we’re the same person.”
I took deep breaths as I thought of all the reasons life was so damn unfair.
“Loved burying my face in your hair, just breathing you in.”
Those were the words most girls dreamed of hearing, and they made our love feel more solid and concrete. But hearing them now was like a slow form of torture, because they were tearing the small amount of control I had left in me to pieces.
“You were made just for me, Sawyer Cooper,” he whispered sleepily. “I truly believe that.”
I squeeze my eyes shut tighter as I curled into him closer.
“Forever my girl.”
Tears rolled along my cheeks as I did all I could to wipe them away before he noticed. I was thankful sleep had taken him over and he was oblivious to the shattering of my soul.

My Review

Congrats to C. A. Harms on the release of Don’t Be Afraid! This is the first book I’ve read by her and I can definetly see myself reading more of her books in the future.

I will give you a warning ahead of time that this second chance romance will bring you to tears and have you yelling “whyyyyyy????”

Don’t Be Afraid reminded me of how precious life is and how your entire life can be altered in a heartbeat. As Sawyer and Patrick learned, life is not always fair. I couldn’t image having to face the things they did.

I seriously struggled with this book. I wasn’t sure at times if I could actually finish it. My emotions were everywhere and my heart hurt so bad. Not every part of the book was sad though. There were times I found myself laughing and my heart feeling full. I was reminded to live my life to the fullest every single day!

This book absolutely earns 5 stars from me!

Thank you for taking your time to read my review!

My Rating: 4 Stars

Genre: Coming of Age/ Romance

From the critically acclaimed and award-winning author, Azin Sametipour, comes a breath-taking story about forbidden love, heartbreak and identity.

Born in California into a Muslim family from Iran, Zoha Farzam thought she had her entire life planned. Graduating from UC Davis in just three years, and attending Stanford Medical School. Even removing her scarf without her parents knowing was a carefully planned rebellion, but she never in her wildest dreams planned Ethan. Ethan Renard was everything she was not, and when he made her question everything she believed in, Zoha found herself being torn between her happiness and her duty. Would she risk everything, her family, her faith, and even her reputation for him?

A moving portrait about the challenges one faces from being in two cultures, or falling in love with someone who is, and the hard decisions one must make to be true to oneself.

Awakened by Love is astonishingly beautiful and frighteningly honest.
Critics call it captivating, powerful and a novel for everyone.

The first in a trilogy, Awakened by Truth comes next!

My Review:

Awakened by Love isn’t my typical read, but I am glad I decided to give it a try. I have never read a book that was about Muslims. It was an eye-opener and definitely a culture shock for me! Some of the things I learned surprised me and some totally shocked me.

I can’t comprehend what it would be like to not be able to live my life the way I wanted. I can only imagine how Zoha felt. She was torn between making herself happy and making her family happy. She didn’t want to bring shame upon her family because she does love them, but she also doesn’t want to conform to some of their religious beliefs, such as the scarf. The author did a great job portraying her struggle.

For the most part, I loved Ethan’s character, but I felt like he was too pushy with Zoha and he didn’t respect her religion. I honestly got so upset at some of the things he did, but I guess it does show how people lack the understanding of different cultures & religious beliefs. Maybe he felt like he needed to push her more so she would break out of her shell & finally decide to live her life for herself???

Overall, the book was great! I would recommend this book to my book friends for sure. It’s good to be open to different types of books. I am glad I was because I learned so much. I am looking forward to the 2nd book, Awakened by Truth, to come out! The ending of Awakened by Love was definitely a cliffhanger!

REVIEW: Wish You Were Mine by Tara Sivec.

My Rating: 4 Stars

Genre: Romance

Publication Date: 11/14/2017

Length: 369 Pages

From the USA Today bestselling author of The Story of Us and Fisher’s Light comes a new, stand-alone novel—a heartwrenching story about first loves and second chances that will make you fall in love all over again….
Five years. I would’ve stayed away longer if I hadn’t received the letter. Not a day has gone by that I haven’t thought about her, haven’t missed her smile, haven’t wished that things were different.
The last time I saw my two best friends, I vowed to not stand in the way of their happiness, even if that meant I couldn’t be a part of their lives. Cameron James and her emerald-green eyes were too much of a temptation and I couldn’t stay and watch them together. Cameron deserved better than me. She deserved him.
But now that I am back, things are different. I’m not going to stand by and watch the woman I’ve always loved slip away again. I’m done living my life with regrets and I’m ready to tell her the truth. And I’ll do whatever it takes to show her that I always wished she was mine.

My Review:
This is the 3rd book in a row that I’ve read by Tara Sivec. Tara is such a talented author! Most authors tend to stay with one genre, but Tara can write multiple genres & she does it flawlessly. In my opinion, they are all amazing!
The cover of the book is beautiful.😍 The cover alone makes me want to read it. You can tell it’s going to be a good tear jerker & sometimes a woman just needs a love story & a good cry! 😉
Wish You Were Mine can be read as a stand-alone, but I highly recommend you read The Story of Us first if you want to get the full experience.

You will say wtf throughout the book…just giving you a warning. I wanted to reach into the book & smack Everett so many times. He’s definitely a clueless man lol! He drove me crazy, but he broke my heart at the same time.

PTSD is a big part of The Story of Us & Wish You Were Mine. I never thought about doctors getting PTSD until I read Wish You Were Mine. Everett had to make decisions that no human should ever have to make. His struggle will break you!

As much as I loved Everett’s character, I think I loved Shelby’s a little more. I admire Shelby’s strength & her attitude. She will let you know if you have done something wrong. She has so much strength & spirit. She is fierce!

I can’t even talk about Aiden. If I do, I’ll be sad all night. Tara makes you feel so connected to her characters that you feel like you are right there with them. Your heart breaks right along with theirs.

The only reason I took off points off the rating is that there are some noticeable misspellings in the book. Other than that, it was amazing! I hate putting anything negative, but if I were an author, I would probably want to know there’s mistakes so it can possibly be fixed.

I would definitely recommend this to anyone in the mood for a sappy love story!

REVIEW: The Story of Us by Tara Sivec.

My Rating: 4 Stars!

Genre: Romance

Publication Date: 6/11/2017

Print Length338 pages

How much can a man take before he breaks?

1,843 days. That’s how long I survived in that hellhole. They tried to break me, but I resisted. And I owe it all to the memory of warm summer nights, the scent of peaches, and the one woman who loved me more than I ever deserved to be loved. Now, I’ll do anything to get back to her. Only Shelby Eubanks isn’t the girl I left behind all those years ago. She’s someone else, a stranger. My Shelby-my little green-eyed firecracker-would never give up her dreams, would never disappear into her mother’s ambitions. But I won’t give up on her. On us. I may be broken, and scarred, and not the man I used to be, but I will do whatever it takes to remind her of the story of us.

My Review:

I’ll just jump right in and say that The Story of Us stole my heart. I can honestly say I’ve never felt as connected to the characters of a book as I have with this one.

Tara has an amazing way of making you feel like you know the characters personally, which made me feel every emotion Shelby & Eli felt. Happiness, sadness, anger, and frustration.

Tara really opened up my eyes to PTSD. I haven’t read much about PTSD and I’ve especially not read a book that describes how bad it truly is.  Tara did an excellent job of getting me into the mindset of someone with PTSD. I was devastated & I just wanted to wrap Eli up in a big hug & protect him!

Shelby is a strong, selfless woman. I love her fiery attitude and how she fought to get back her life. Shelby is such a loveable character and my heart broke for her so many times. I wanted to reach in and give Shelby a big hug too!

I can only hope to have a love as strong as Eli & Shelby someday!

I would definitely recommend The Story of Us to anyone that loves a tearjerker romance. Just remember to keep some tissue nearby!
